Traffic order in Angamaly

After repeated postponements, traffic regulations were successfully implemented at Angamaly on Tuesday, ensuring smooth vehicular movement in the town.

The traffic regulations, planned in the wake of rising congestion and accidents, were introduced owing to the joined effort of various agencies,including the Police, Traffic Advisory Committee, Merchants Association,Angamaly Municipal Council, KSRTC, private bus operators and the headloa workers.

Earlier, the attempts to implement traffic changes were allegedly sabotaged by vested interests. However, the efforts of the Traffic Advisory Committee, constituted to coordinate with other agencies to initiate the traffic reforms, yielded results.

Roadside parking will be restricted on the stretch from the KSRTC bus stand to LF Hospital Road.

Parking has been allowed on one side of the road. But, parking on the sides of the stretch extending from MC Road to first gate of LF Hospital has been banned.

Parking on a side has been allowed near the Town Shrine. One-way traffic will be allowed for vehicles to enter Old Market Road from NH.

Police personnel will be deployed at the Manjapra - TB Junction to monitor the regulation. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to proceed to the LF Hospital area from the Manjapra junction.

Parking of tanker lorries has banned on the sides of Angadikadavu Road to the Market Road. Authorities have issued strict warning against unauthorized parking.

Hoardings and publicity boards which prevent visibility and divert the attention of drivers will be removed. Roadside vendors causing nuisance to the pedestrians and vehicle users will also be banned.

Sign boards indicating ‘Parking’ and ‘No Parking’ have already been erected. The damaged iron grills will be restored on the medians of the NH with the help of NHAI. The spot to set up medians on the NH will be earmarked in consultation with the Municipal Council.

Buses will not be permitted to remain at the stops for long time. The Zebra Crossing will be repainted to ensure better visibility.
